Our
Lady of the Cape Parish is "twinned" with St. Claire's Parish in
Dessalines, Haiti.

We entered into this covenant some eighteen years ago. Besides the main parish church and rectory, Saint Claire's Parish operates 9 chapels, a dispensary and 5 schools.

OLC Parish helps by generating funds to support this work. Last year we provided $20,000 for the construction of ten new classrooms at Claire Lumière School.
We are also providing $4,000 per month to provide a daily school lunch program for almost 2,000 students in these schools.

Each year representatives of Our Lady of the Cape Parish visit Dessalines to assure our Haitian sisters and brothers that they are not alone in their daily struggles to survive in their poverty. Haiti has an unemployment rate of over 80%.
