ST. Vincent de PAUL SOCIETY
CAPE AND ISLANDS DISTRICT
The St. Vincent de Paul
Society is an international lay organization of men and women whose
members function in Catholic parishes throughout the Cape and Islands
as Conferences to assist the needy of their respective regions.
Our parishioners support our Conference by donating food for our pantry
and being very generous with financial donations. These donations
allow us to help folks with utility bills, rents, mortgages, medical
charges, car repairs, food and other emergency need where they need
assistance.
Our Conference consists of 14 advocates, 14 associate members and a
spiritual director. It meets once a month to review what has
transpired during the past month. We are required to make a home
visit before we help with a financial request. People needing
assistance must call our hotline (508 385-7582)
to see if they qualify and a phone monitor will forward the call to an
advocate who in turn will contact the client. We network with
other agencies within our area.
Our Conference gives out holiday food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas to allow clients to enjoy the holidays.
